These hardened flat platens are CNC machined from billet, cold rolled 1018 steel. They are then professionally case hardened to 59-62 Rc at a depth of .05 inches. This hard and abrasion resistant layer allows the platen to withstand heavy grinding while maintaining its proper shape. These are an excellent upgrade from any stock platen. Both sides of these platens are surface ground and can be flipped when worn down.
2 built in 1/4-20 bolt spacings at 6 and 6.75 inches to match most grinders. (9 inch platens have an additional set of holes with an 8 inch spacing)
Platens generate a lot of friction and heat. It is highly recommended you run a magnetic, water cooled heatsink in conjunction with your platen. (Heatsink sold here)
